U.K. Shares Higher at Close of Trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Up 0.92%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Household Goods & Home ConstructionChemicals and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher. At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.92% to hit a new 3-month high.

The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW), which rose 5.55% or 6.40 points to trade at 121.70 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) added 5.11% or 53.50 points to end at 1,100.00 and Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) was up 4.72% or 21.00 points to 465.50 in late trade.

Biggest losers included WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which lost 1.96% or 15.00 points to trade at 750.00 in late trade. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) declined 1.80% or 8.90 points to end at 486.00 and Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) shed 1.71% or 2.95 points to 169.55. Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1145 to 495 and 473 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.73% or 14.35 to $1,968.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.07% or 0.06 to hit $90.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.19% or 0.18 to trade at $94.16 a barrel. GBP/USD was unchanged 0.18% to 1.24, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.32% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 104.40.
