U.K. Shares Higher at Close of Trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Up 0.39%

Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the ChemicalsOil & Gas Producers and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares higher. At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.39%. The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT), which rose 9.85% or 160.50 points to trade at 1,790.50 at the close. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq) added 5.62% or 71.00 points to end at 1,334.00 and BP PLC (LON:BP) was up 2.73% or 13.30 points to 500.80 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 3.61% or 17.00 points to trade at 453.40 in late trade. British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) declined 2.81% or 9.10 points to end at 314.50 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 2.41% or 60.00 points to 2,430.00. Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 849 to 720 and 537 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange. In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.08% or 1.55 to $1,964.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.31% or 1.93 to hit $85.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.92% or 1.67 to trade at $88.50 a barrel. GBP/USD was down 0.62% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.09% to 0.86. The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 104.15.
